Today Justin Timberlake and SZA released their brand new single "The other side" from the upcoming movie "Trolls World Tour". In this article, you will get to know all the empowering facts about SZA and the background of her latest cooperation.

Collaborations between different artists are often the most eagerly awaited work by fans, sometimes even more so than a new album. This social urgency to "want to know" is today fed minute by minute by its protagonists through the social networks, this strategy increases the speculations of the public, and these speculations often generate a debate, (sometimes controversial), especially when it comes to artists who have nothing in common (or at least that's what we thought). This is how the wheel is formed that makes the work of a single track, the famous "featuring" become the big news, above the main news, like this article.

After two years without news about new work, SZA returns to a recording studio accompanied by a world pop icon.

Two years went by without news about a new job by Solána Imani Rowe (known to many as SZA) until in an interview last August she promised that her new job would arrive as soon as possible while confirming with complete normality that the night before the interview she had been inside a studio with Pop icon Justin Timberlake, rapper Brockhampton and producer Jack Antonoff. SZA was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1990 (if you're a fan of Sex and the City, you're probably thinking the same thing as me). Daughter of a Christian mother, a  Muslim father, she grew up in a home under orthodox Muslim beliefs.

Art has always been part of her daily life, she studied in New Jersey at Essex County College of Liberal Arts, until one day she started recording music by accident, in the company of a neighbor. Although SZA has been a woman in music since she was a child, it was only in 2011 that she met people from a record label for the first time, after one of her friends showed one of the executives the first songs that SZA made for a musical competition called CMJ. From that moment on, SZA's career took off and never stopped: She worked with another woman empowered like Rihanna (co-writing the song "Consideration" for Anti's her eighth album), and Cardi B (in the song "I do"), also worked with artists ranging from Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, to Post Malone. Another one of her female factors was modeling for Beyoncé's Ivy Park sportswear line. But it wasn't until April 2017, when she signed her first contract with a multinational company like RCA Records, that Solana's career took a leap forward.

The debut album of both artists reached the top of the Billboard 200 (with 20 years of difference).

The equality factor between these two artists shows not only the talent of both, but it also shows the commitment, the struggle, and the power to achieve goals. SZA was only six years old when Justin Timberlake debuted with the first album of Nsync, an album that reached number 2 in the Billboard 200, something absurd to think at that time, was that 20 years later, she herself would debut at number three of the Billboard 200 with her album Ctrl, an album that earned her four Grammy nominations, in addition to being nominated in the category Best New Artist.

"I want to work with people I think are really amazing, like her." JT about SZA

"We did a really cool song and I couldn't believe it", "We're on the same label and I didn't meet him until yesterday and it was really great". With those words: SZA told the world that they would collaborate with JT, in a new work, without giving more details. Only a few days later, it was Justin who revealed the importance of working with an artist like SZA: "I worked with SZA the other day, I've been writing and producing songs for so long, I want to experience that energy, and I want to work with people I think are really amazing, like her".

For a while, there was speculation that this work would be part of the Missouri singer's album until Timberlake officially announced that they were both working on the soundtrack for the film Trolls World Tour (JT had already produced the soundtrack for the first film Trolls). The soundtrack will also feature artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Haim, Anderson Park, Mary J Blige Icona Pop, among others.

In the words of SZA, 2020 will be the year they release new music, as they have already recorded some things with Sam Smith and Megan Thee Stallion, meanwhile, "The Other Side", their new song in conjunction with Justin Timberlake is already available on all digital platforms, and we celebrate this new collaboration between two generations who understood each other perfectly.
